mick turner

Mick Turner is a Melbourne artist and musician, known primarily as guitarist with internationally acclaimed instrumental group Dirty Three. He has however been a painter for as long as he’s played music, and his artwork features on the covers of Dirty Three and his own solo album releases. These cover-art paintings exist as a visual accompaniment to the music of Dirty Three and Turner’s other projects, possessing a similar wild beauty.

In more recent years Turner has focused more on painting for its own sake. From small exhibitions at Melbourne institution Mario’s Cafe in 2003 and 2004, Turner has gone on over the past years to show his paintings regularly at St Kilda’s Brightspace Gallery as well as Sydney’s blank_space gallery and more recently in Ireland and UK. He has also exhibited in several group exhibitions in New York, London and Italy. His paintings are held in private collections the world over.
