I first came across Dirty Three suppoting Nick Cave at The Royal Festival Hall in 1999 "I Offered It Up To The Stars And The Night Sky was one of those spine tingling moments that I hadn't had at a gig since Crime And The City Solution playing "On Every Train (Grain Will Bear Grain)" more than ten years earlier. Needless to say I went out the next day and bought every Dirty Three cd I could get my hands and everything since!
"Live At Meredith" has to be the best live album ever recorded , forget about The Who "Live At Leeds no band has ever had the power and beauty that Mick, Jim and Warren possess on stage.
You will be laughing during the intro to "She Has No Strings" when Mick and Warren see James Brown at the Charles De F*****g Gaulle airport, holding back the tears on "Some Summers They Drop Like Flies" andyour spine will tingle every time you hear "Hope".
There is no such thing as a poor Dirty Three release but if you are only going to buy one it has to be "Live At Meredith" if only to keep you going through the two years waiting for them to tour again!!!!! 10/10
